The Willower – working gently with nature

The Willower

Choosing to use more willow products reconnects us with nature and supports us to reduce our use of non recyclable products. Using centuries old techniques I work with willow to create decorative items and functional containers. I aim to create that which is beautiful, useful and planet friendly.  Choose willow.

What do my customers say?

This is such a beautiful item and I will buy again as gifts. I cant wait to watch the birds come and feed from the feeder and was so pleased some fat balls were also included. The feeder is so well made and arrived quickly and safely and was wrapped up so carefully. My expectations were more than met and I would be happy to recommend buying from this site.

So much more interesting than a shop bought feeder and a really wonderful piece of handicraft. I look forward to seeing how it changes through the seasons too – and will be back again when it finally returns to nature! Thanks Geraldine.

This willow feeder is perfect for a 9th wedding anniversary gift. Lovely design and arrived well within the quoted delivery date. Thank you.

Who am I? … a short story about finding what you love doing and keeping on doing it a whole lot more…

Hi, I’m Gerry

baby in a willow shopping basket
Surviving childhood one comedy photo at a time

Here’s me in the 1970s happily stored in a basket & being raised by incredibly creative & practical parents where they showed me that creating something yourself brings a bucket load of satisfaction and solace.  Actually it was probably a basket load.

So it was no surprise that it wasn’t long before I was hand stitching patchwork quilts, making my own clothes, knitting, crocheting and finally in the 90s I got started on the path of learning how to make my own willow baskets.

Now, after working as a Primary School teacher and raising a clutch of boys, I want to share the short cuts to self soothing and solace that I’ve found through my creativity.

So I’d like to invite you to browse the products in my shop (click to browse)  and come and join me on courses where we weave willow, stitch stitches and protect a bit of time to live life at a gentler pace.
